Comprehensive lighting system design and installation for 74,000 seat stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, home to the Carolina Panthers.

New technology can give any facility new life. Even in multi-million dollar sports complexes like Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers and host to major professional and collegiate sporting events, strategic and well-planned improvements can really score big.

When an $87.5 million upgrade was approved, WB Moore was chosen as the design/build electrical contractor and engineer.

WB Moore implemented exterior accent lighting including installing one product on top of the stadium domes (100 feet in the air!) using color-changing, programmable LED ribs pre-fabbed on the ground and installed by a sub-contracted rigging company.

unique challenges overcome:
  • Non-typical surfaces, specialized applications and environments.
  • Exterior installations in excess of 100 feet in the air.
  • Short window for completion -- Project began in March and had to be completed by July.
project highlights:
  • 1,500 linear feet of new light fixtures on exterior structure composed of 24,000 color-changing LED nodes.
  • Advanced lighting control designed for current and future lighting improvements, integrated into custom AV equipment rooms througuout the facility.
  • Lighting control system allows for color-changing scene selection for various events and activities shuch as a "touchdown".

The proof? A sports stadium that rivals any in the country in terms of spectator enjoyment and community pride.
