Lighting and Controls
The lighting you choose for your next project in an important consideration in terms of energy costs, productivity and efficiency.
All buildings need it. All buildings have it.
Today, there are more lighting choices than ever: from traditional incandescent and fluorescent, to halogen and compact fluorescent, to emerging technologies such as LED, solid state and even electrodeless fluorescent.
The lighting you choose for your next project is an important consideration, particularly given that between 20% to 50% of your electrical costs are likely to be associated with how (and how much) you light. Studies have shown that the quality of your facility’s lighting can even increase the productivity of your employees. Heat given off by the lighting source you employ can have surprising impact on both the cost and the efficiency of your HVAC.
How you control your lighting factors in as well. Will you have standard switches or a full building automation system with integrated time schedules and programmable scenes?
In addition, will your building design integrate daylight harvesting to further reduce your cost of operation?
WB Moore has decades of experience in the design and installation of lighting systems—interior and exterior. Just click to read about our involvement in the 2014 upgrade of Bank of America stadium in Charlotte.
